The Affordable Care Act (ACA)

Effective January 1, 2015, the ACA requires new reporting under sections 6055 and 6056 of the Internal Revenue Code. Employers with 50 or more full-time (FT) or full-time equivalent (FTE) employees are considered an Applicable Large Employer (ALE) and therefore are required to offer employee health care coverage, or pay a penalty. ALEs will also be required to report to the IRS on the employee health coverage offered or not offered.
